Who are we?
Hi, we are Jo & Eugene. Welcome to Heart & Soil
In late 2015, we moved from the centre of Cape Town to the Far South. Permaculture inspired us to farm on a subsistence scale. Since then, we have been learning by trial and error.
I (Jo) started out as a food security researcher with a doctorate in Public Health. I've spent my life studying and learning and after eight years on our farm, there's still so much to learn. We've learned to grow veg and trees, raise goats, chickens and ducks, and much more.
Now we want to help you grow
We believe growth is strongest in a community.
There's a similarity between community and ecology in that plants, animals, and people all benefit from being together.
When we support one another in growing, it makes our community stronger. When the community is stronger, growth is a lot easier. And so it builds...

Visit our nursery!
We offer hardy, medicinal and edible plants at our nursery, as well as fresh produce grown right here on the homestead. We pick fresh produce to order.
We're open for pickup on Saturdays and Sundays, 9am-1pm.
